Flightless Cormorants, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

These birds are powerful indicators of the process of evolution. All other cormorants in the world fly - but these can't, because their wings have evolved to be too small and weak. This is because these birds dive deep in the ocean for food, and heavy wings would hamper this and limit their ability to feed. So, they evolved very small wings, and no longer can fly.
